ALL WEATHER, HIGH SPEED, FUEL SAVING, TWIN-BODY SEMISUBMERSIBLE SHIP

A brief description is given of a catamaran type of hull which is thought to be suitable for most types of ocean-going ships. The lower, submerged portion of the hull is of catamaran construction, each of the two parts having its own propeller and rudder. Each also supports the main above water portion of the hull by means of two partly-submerged relatively thin streamlined vertical struts. This form of hull has lower wave-making resistance and smaller motion response to waves than monohulls, and advantages in respect of cargo space and stowage. An experimental 12-metre model is shortly to undergo sea trials. Order from BSRA as No. 52,249.
