REDUCING THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING RAILWAY LINES
REZERVY SNIZENIJA STOIMOSTI STROITEL'STVA ZELEZNYH DOROG
Analysis of the technical and economic indices of new railway lines constructed by the SZD during the last 15 years has shown that the cost of laying one kilometre of line has increased by 32,200 Rbl a year (for the Urals and Siberia, by 63,000 Rbl a year). The authors discuss the factors resulting in this situation (increase in traffic density, train tonnage, speed, axle loads, etc.), and suggest methods for reducing the cost of constructing lines.
