BOLTING IN MINES AND TUNNELS

LE BOULONNAGE DANS LES MINES ET TUNNELS

The current possibilities of bolting with instantaneous sealing with resin are such that the range of applications is extended day by day in different areas. The author describes the bolting jumbos which make automation possible in the iron mines of Moyeuvre, the mechanised drilling and bolting in the coal mines of Lorraine, and the improvements arising from this mechanisation, the mechanised rock bolting, the upstream heading of the tunnel under Belledone (a gallery entirely in rock crossing broken granite, schists, and gneiss alternating with schists requiring partial rock bolting then continuous-density of 10 to 12 anchorages per section).
