THREE-PHASE AUXILIARY STATIC CONVERTER FOR MOTOR VEHICLES USING THE EXAMPLE OF SERIES-120 LOCOMOTIVE OF THE WEST GERMAN RAILROAD SYSTEM

DREHSTROM-HILFSBETRIEBEUMRICHTER FUER TRIEBFAHRZEUGE AM BEISPIEL DER LOKOMOTIVE BAUREIHE 120 DER DEUTSCHEN BUNDESBAHN

The three-phase ac supply for auxiliary circuits of the locomotives series 120 is provided by three static converters with transistorized quenching facilities. The subdivision offers the advantage of accelerating the auxiliary motors by increasing voltage and frequency. It is possible to adapt the rotational speed of the fans optimally to the fan performance just required. A solution with a comparable rotating converter is 1.5 t heavier than the system with the static converter of which the structure and circuitry is described.
