EXPERIMENT TECHNIQUES FOR THE PREDICTION OF SHIP SEAKEEPING PERFORMANCE

An assessment is made of facilities required for seakeeping tests, and the use of conventional tanks, seakeeping basins and open water are compared. Examples are given of applications of currently available techniques to specific problems such as roll stabilization, powering, shipping water and capsizing. It is concluded that reliable ship predictions require the use of specialized model test facilities and sophisticated analysis techniques. Order from NSFI as No. 19519.
