MARITIME SYSTEM DESIGN METHODOLOGY
The paper addresses the need for a methodology in design and surveys the essential features. The methodology requires that the objective should define the boundaries and constraints within eight areas; economic, social, political, geographical, physical, organizational, industrial and temporal and each is briefly discussed. Forms of physical and behavioural models are touched upon. The value of a design methodology is assessed and the place of each of the approaches to decision making is proposed.
