STRUCTURES. 1959-79-99?
From a survey of some major developments in marine structural engineering over the past twenty years, the paper defines the factors which have been the main determinants of change. Progress is viewed against various criteria of design, and some shortcomings in the present state of the art identified. Future trends in sea use and social, scientific and technological influences provide some pointers for the next twenty years, from which some suggestions for future priorities in design, education and research are offered. Order from NSFI as No. 19499.
