SCOPE FOR LINEAR ELECTRIC DRIVES ON ELECTRIC ROLLING STOCK AND PROBLEMS IN APPLICATION

Explains use of linear motors as "traction amplifier" drives on inclines in main line rail transport and mining. Rapid acceleration and deceleration are possible over short distances.
