ARGENTINA: CARGO RESERVATION
This article examines the growing threat to the international shipping community posed by Argentina's cargo reservation policy. Despite vigorous protests from Japanese and European governments, Argentina appears determined to carry mosts of its own imports and exports. Besides examining Argentina's trade flows and maritime involvement, the article also provides an overall economic picture of the country. Topics covered include: Rise in imports due to tariff reductions; Surplus for export; and growth of the Argentine fleet.
