THE CLICHY BRIDGES

LES PONTS DE CLICHY

Details are given of the installation and erection of the Clichy Bridges, important road, railway and river crossing. The work comprised: (1) the improvement of the right bank of the Seine, the crossing of the Seine, linking with the bridge heads; (2) regrading of the river bed, suppression of the Robinson Island, utilization of the materials from the island to fill the river arm in Asnieres; (3) improvement of the Left Bank; (4) diversion of the RN 310 in Asnieres. The construction operations already completed are described: (1) construction of a first half-bridge; (2) hydraulic fill of the Asnieres arm; (3) construction of the access road on the Left Bank; (4) temporary improvement without underpass on the right bank; the 3-continuous-span bridge, the abutments and the piers of which are built on piles that reach down to the coarse limestone is of the cantilevered type with three-web cast-in-situ segments built in two stages: (a) casting of the lower floor and webs with mobile equipment; (b) casting of the upper floor with a second mobile equipment unit.
