CALCULATION OF CONVERSION FOR SPLITTING TENSILE STRENGTH ON 10 CM CONCRETE CORES
DIE UMRECHNUNG DER SPALTZUGFESTIGKEIT AM 10-CM-BETONBOHRKERN
The aim of the work was to determine guide values for converting the strength from a splitting tensile test for a 10 cm concrete core to the tensile strength in bending for a 60 cm or 70 cm beam, respectively. For this purpose an extensive test programme was arranged where cores were taken from halves of beams immediately after the bending test at an age of 56 days. By this method it was possible to make a prognosis of both types of strengths for the same sample. Both results obtained were therefore in a direct relation. From the large number of results it was possible to formulate a conversion expression for the above case. The relation which was determined is linear. (TRRL)
