RATE STRUCTURE ANALYSIS: PLOTTING IN COLOR YIELDS VALUABLE INSIGHTS
Interactive graphics is enabling Southern Railway to analyze freight traffic patterns and revenues. The multicolor display ultimately will make possible ways to route traffic more profitably and relate rates more closely to costs. This minicomputer application is expected eventually to allow Southern marketing to devise and implement strategies across a spectrum of commodities, rates and service levels with profitability relationships determined directly.
