"FREQ" WAR SHIFTS TO NEW BATTLEGROUND
The possibility of frequency reallocations by the World Administrative Radio Conference (WARC) or by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission could affect railroad radio. A WARC conference in 1979 retained an International Telecommunication Union rule which protects for now spectrum allocations occupied by North American railroad frequencies. The subject will be considered again by a Mobile WARC conference in the next few years. Microwave channels may be affected by another WARC action. Table gives an inventory of railroad mobile equipment in service.
