CONGRESSMAN TACKLES EXTREME AUTO LAWS
This article presents some comments (quoted) of David Stockman, Republican Congressman from Michigan on the regulations of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These comments are highly critical of EPA's emission standards, especially concerning hydrocarbons, and DOT's mileage standards and certain damage-reduction (bumpers) and passive restraints (airbags). His quoted remarks indicate that he considers that the cost of implementing some of these regulations pose a threat to the automobile industry.
