CONCRETE PAVING BLOCKS USED AS A WEARING COURSE IN TUNNELS
BELEGNINGSSTEIN AV BETONG SOM SLITEEKKE NAA OGSAA I TUNNEL
In places with much exhaust fumes, like junctions with heavy traffic and bus laybys, as well as in tunnels, bituminous pavements often have a short life span. Recently concrete paving blocks have been used as a good alternative, alongside cast-in-situ concrete pavements. The Norwegian Public Road Authorities have carried out tests with concrete paving blocks at junctions as well as in tunnels, and preliminary recommendations for concrete paving blocks have been prepared, which will be included in the "Highway Standard Specifications". In the article comparisons are made between concrete paving blocks and cast-in-situ concrete pavements.
