STUDY AND SERVICE TESTING OF NEW, SELF-HARDENING RAIL STEELS

UNTERSUCHUNG UND BETRIEBLICHTE ERPROBUNG NEUARTIGER NATURHARTER SCHIENENSTAEHLE

Four different steel grades were studied under operating conditions to determine their suitability to produce weldable rails. The results obtained show that austenitic steels exhibit particularly high resistance to fracture, bainitic steels high resistance to fatigue, and pearlitic steels high resistance to wear and fatigue.
