MANAGEMENT OF ARIZONA'S RAIL PROGRAM
With enactment of the 4R Act, Arizona undertook rail planning which covers 2 interstate railroads and 4 intrastate lines comprising about 2000 route miles. The Federal Rail Program has stimulated states to give attention to railroads as a vital component of their overall transportation system and fostered cooperation with railroads, unions, shippers, other states and Federal agencies. Arizona's own program has stressed public participation in the rail planning process.
