PROBABILISTIC APPROACH TO ANCHOR DESIGN

This article discusses the development of a mechanism for anchor comparison together with a first stage assessment, in terms of the probability of anchor failure of the minimum capital expenditure for an anchor and moored facility. For the purposes of this article, the term "anchor" will be restricted to more permanent anchoring arrangements, i.e., piles, embedment anchors and dead weights, as may be used for such offshore installations as single point moorings and tethered platforms.
