QUALITY CONTROL: KEY TO SUCCESSFUL ROAD RECYCLING

The case discussed is made for street restoration by employing surface recycling with rejuvenation to reduce materials requirements. The surface recycling program established by the Highway Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation employs a rejuvenating agent which is reported to restore ductility and flexibility to the aged asphalt. Combined with other steps in the recycling process, it allows the re-use of old pavement in the new road surface and saves substantially on new asphalt paving material consumption.
