ONE-PASS SLIPFORMING SPEEDS X-WAY RECONSTRUCTION
The paper reports how slipforming of a new three-lane wide concrete slab in one pass helped complete the reconstruction of Chicago's Edens Expressway on schedule, despite frequent changes in pavement cross slopes and tight working quarters under overpasses. Adjustable equipment handled the changes from crowned cross sections to banked slabs in curves, while additional equipment helped squeeze the continuously-reinforced pavement through under bridges with restrictive side clearances.
