A recent conference organised by Cimo (Club Europeen des importateurs de fruits et legumes d'outremer) in Brussesl during October 1979 produced some interesting arguments as to the role of the container in the world fruit trade. Interviews with the citrus fruit bodies of Israel and South Africa, as well as a look at several lines involved in the carriage of bananas, apples, pears, tomatoes and pineapples reveal a thriving container business which is driving a sizeable wedge into the fruit market.
