LIMITS OF THE EFFICIENCY OF ELECTRIC TRACTIVE UNITS
GRENZEN DER LEISTUNGSFAEHIGKEIT ELEKTRISCHER TRIEBFAHRZEUGE
Starting from the limits of loading gage and weight as well as from mechanical, electrical and thermal stresses for the rating of traction motors, the theoretically possible ratings per wheel set for single-phase series traction motors, undulating current traction motors and three-phase traction motors, respectively, are found. It is demonstrated that these ratings reaching their highest values for three-phase traction motors are practically not exhausted. This is caused by the limits for volume and weight of the electric equipment which is necessary in addition to the traction motor.
