PURCHASE OF ROLLING STOCK BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES OPERATED UNDER CONTRACT

LES ACQUISITIONS DE MATERIEL PAR LES COLLECTIVITES LOCALES DANS LE CADRE DE L'ETABLISSEMENT DE SERVICES CONVENTIONNES

The authors report that the purchase by local authorities (regional, inter-county or inter-municipal) of rolling stock for the provision, by the French National Railways (SNCF), of local services of which the operation is covered by special contract, does not yet represent a very large portion of the turnover of the firms manufacturing rolling stock for the SNCF. The first applications of which systems have been authorized in several parts of the country are described.
