EXPLOSION PROOF LASER ALIGNS AUSTRIAN TUNNEL
Under the joint responsibility of the Porr, Mayreder and Hamberger companies of Austria, the Bosrucktunnel Nord in the Austrian Alps is being driven to add more distance to the country's scenic autobahn. Work on the tunnel is at present just beyond the 600 m point of the 2750 m which makes up the Porr, Mayreder and Hamberger responsibility. The total length of the tunnel will be 5000 m on completion. The presence of methane gas in the Bosrucktunnel Nord has made it essential that instruments used in construction should be proof against explosion. The laser tool selected has justified expectations and proved safe and reliable.
