EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF RAIL OVERTURNING THEORY
This paper shows the experimental verification of the theory presented in a separate paper. The tests were performed by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) in November-December 1975. The vertical, lateral and torsional resistances were obtained by numerous trials. The torsional resistance was found to be the most important factor. The comparison of theoretical and experimental results shows very good agreement.
