HYDRAULICALLY BOUND BASE COURSES AND CONCRETE PAVEMENTS
HYDRAULISCH GEBUNDENE TRAGSCHICHTEN UND BETONOBERBAU
Investigations show that bending stresses in concrete pavements can be markedly reduced, if the underlying hydraulically bound roadbase has a certain minimum rigidity. In assessing the bearing capacity and deformation behaviour of such multi-layer systems one must take account of cracking in the hydraulically bound roadbase. This causes a reduction in rigidity, and in the design process the appropriate allowance must be made by correcting the e-modulus. Approximate values are given in the paper for this purpose. (TRRL)
