MEASUREMENT OF THE DEPTH OF FOUNDATIONS BY MEANS OF MICRO SEISMIC TRANSPARENCY
MESURE DE LA PROFONDEUR DES FOUNDATIONS PAR MICRO SISMIQUE TRANSPARENCE
It is sometimes necessary to know the depth of existing foundations, for example to plan a deep excavation in the neighbourhood of buildings. This depth can be measured by micro seismic transparency. The technique consists in making a borehole near the foundation investigated and measuring the transfer time of a shock wave from a fixed point in front of the foundation to various points of the borehole. The variation in transfer time permits to locate the base of the foundation. (TRRL)
