BREATH ALCOHOL DETERMINATION WITH THE "ALCOLMETER" IN REAL LIFE CONDITIONS

ZUR ATEMALKOHOLBESTIMMUNG MIT DEM "ALCOLMETER" UNTER FELDBEDINGUNGEN

Breath alcohol data, obtained in the field by the police with the aid of the "alcolmeter", were compared with the corresponding blood alcohol concentrations in 81 cases. Differences between the two measurements were in the range from - 1,5 to 0.8 promille and from - 0,6 to 0,6 promille in the phase of elimination and of resorption, respectively. It is concluded that the alcolmeter-method as used in the field does not allow for reliable inferences with respect to blood alcohol concentrations. (TRRL)
