THE MARKET FOR SPECIALS

A variety of factors are currently focusing considerable interest on the market prospects for various types of special container. This report charts the historical development of the world container fleet and accompanying world container production volumes with particular reference to the evolving requirement for special containers-refrigerated/insulated units, tank containers, open tops and other specials-as well as dry freight units, in the medium-term period to 1985. The survey, which incorporates the results of extensive recent Cargo Systems Research/Consultancy Division (CSR/CD) research, is presented in four main sections, these being: World Container fleet development 1975/1978. World container production 1975/1979. World container demand prospects in the medium term. The outlook for the world container manufacturing industry. Each section is discussed in detail.
