SOVIET CAPABILITIES IN ARCTIC MARINE TRANSPORT
This article reviews Soviet ice-breaking activities, especially by the nuclear ships of the fleet, for the 1978 season, and speculates on the increasing trend of Soviet marine traffic to take high latitude voyages and all-year passage through the northern sea route. An implication of Soviet capabilities is the possible use of Canadian Arctic waters for Soviet navigation. (ASTIS)
