CONSUMPTION OF ENERGY IN TRANSPORT
The looming exhaustion of the fossil primary energy carriers existing in the earth, forces consideration of using these economically and with a high degree of efficiency. It is pointed out, that the transport sector of the economy can also make a not insignificant contribution to the saving of energy. In particular, the general energy structure, the physical facts and factors affecting the energy consumption of the transport carrier, the positive taking care of energy on the railways through a well-balanced energy structure and the definition of the specific energy consumption, as a yardstick of assessment by a transport means, are presented. The terms gross structure considerations, medium fine structure considerations and fine structure considerations are newly introduced as a comprehensive instrument for the comparison of the specific primary energy consumption by the individual transport carriers.
