CREW CONSIST THE NEW PACTS ARE PAYING OFF
Railroads and United Transportation Union are negotiating agreements for fewer crew members on freight trains and in yards. Two patterns are evolving with liberal provisions in Canada and more restrictions in the U.S. Savings are shared with UTU-represented employees. Milwaukee Road led off movement in the U.S. and Canadian National in Canada. CP, RF&P, Conrail and now Missouri Pacific have now also made agreements. Individual differences and results are described.
