U. S. ROADBUILDERS GET CLOSER LOOK AT SULFUR-EXTENDED ASPHALT

The paper reports that the Illinois Department of Transportation completed an experimental road project to give roadbuilders possibility to evaluate whether sulfur/asphalt mix is a low-cost, possibly superior material to asphaltic pavement. Standard asphaltic pavement was overlaid with 20,000 tons of sulfur-extended bituminous concrete pavement.
