COUNTY COMBATS COST RISE OF SNOW AND ICE CONTROL
The paper reports that salt costs led St. Louis County, Missouri, to seek alternative methods of snow and ice control. Liquid calcium chloride proved effective for icy roads. Salt spreaders pass under a calcium chloride solution shower as they sortie on winter assignment. Spreading rates may be adjusted up or down to meet needs of the situation met in field.
