DEVELOPMENT, EVALUATION AND EXTENSIVE STUDY OF THE "RHEDA" TRACK WITHOUT BALLAST
ENTWICKLUNG, BEMESSUNG UND ERFORSCHUNG DES SCHOTTERLOSEN OBERBAUES "RHEDA"
The results obtained in tests on track without ballast, newly constructed in the station at Rheda (Federal Republic of Germany), were positive as regards track bed and homogeneity of rail supports in high speed runs. Also with this sort of track regular overhauling is not required as it is with ballast track. There are plans to build track without ballast on the proposed stretch of test track between Rheine and Freren, which will be suitable for speeds of 350 km/h.
