INSTALLATIONS OF RAILROAD POWER GENERATION -- DEVELOPMENT AND PROSPECTS
DIE ANLAGEN DER BAHNSTROMERZEUGUNG -- ENTWICKLUNG UND AUSBLICK
The development of railroad traction power generation machines for single phase ac with 16-2/3 Hz has shown enormous progress within the past 15 years. Hydro-power generators with 75 Mw and traction power turbogenerator sets with more than 150 Mw have to be considered as machines reaching the limits of possible output. Using line-supplied coupling motor-generator sets, power limits of 100 Mw are possible. Converters of a similar output level may be considered for the future.
