DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL COEFFICIENT OF FORCES OF INELASTIC RESISTANCE TO COMPRESSION

OPREDELENIE OPTIMAL'NOGO KOEFFITSIENTA SIL NEUPRUGOGO SOPROTIVLENIYA SZHATIYU

The optimal value of the coefficient of the forces of inelastic resistance to compression of hydraulic and gas shock absorbers is determined. The least value of the force acting on a car in collisions on sorting yard humps and during the motion in a train is selected as a criterion. It is shown that the least value of that force in a train is equal to the applied traction force, and takes place in the case when the solution to the problem of wave propagation in a beam equivalent to the train is smooth. The optimal value of the coefficient of the forces of inelastic resistance during the motion of a car in a train is determined from an analysis of the structure of the shock wave front, assuming self-similarity of the solution at the stage in question.
