THE USE OF COMPOSITE BRAKE-SHOE INSERTS ON THE DB'S TRACTION AND ROLLING STOCK

Although the composition brake shoe is superior to the cast-iron type in various respects, it has been adopted on only a few DB vehicles. The author gives reasons for the limited use of the composite brake shoe and indicates which traction, passenger and freight stock operated by the DB is at present so equipped. The outlook for the future is also examined.
