PREDICTION EQUATIONS FOR SHIPS' TURNING CIRCLES
In conformity with general practice, the turning circle characteristics discussed here have been non-dimensionalized using ship length. The terms used and the geometry of the circles are defined. It is also generally acknowledged that maneuvering performance is affected by the shape of a ship's bow profile below water and by the presence or absence of a bulbous bow. There appears to be no published information at all dealing with this, but the present analysis shows a significant effect to be present.
