LOOP DUE SOPHISTICATED SUPERVISORY CONTROL SYSTEM
This article focuses on a sophisticated supervisory control and monitoring system using programmable controllers that is designed specifically to control and monitor all aspects of the LOOP (Louisiana Offshore Oil Port) system. This supervisory control system will aid in handling tankers with capacities of more than 550,000 dwt. The LOOP complex will be capable of offloading crude oil from tankers at rates up to 100,000 bbls/hr. Supervisory control will be extended to the associated pipeline and storage facilities.
