All buses can be considered as non-polluting concerning the environmental influences per transported person. On the other hand no bus is entirely non-polluting. There are always a certain amount of noises, vibrations, pollutions and exhausts. This article is describing four kinds of buses which can be considered as nonpolluting when compared with diesel buses. These kinds of buses are trolley buses, battery buses, buses with alternative heat engines and hybrid buses. Teh article deals with such problems as energy conservation, emissions of different kinds of gases and noise levels. The alternative heat engines are compared concerning noises, emissions, trends, demands upon fuel. (TRRL)
