BRIDGE TEMPERATURES IN THE ARABIAN GULF: THEORETICAL PREDICTIONS

It is shown how knowledge of the response of concrete bridges to the climate of the United Kingdom has been used to predict both extreme values of minimum and maximum effective bridge temperatures and the magnitudes of large positive and reversed temperature differences likely to be experienced by concrete bridges in the rather different climatic conditions of the Arabian Gulf. It may be that the type of approach which is developed could be of use to bridge designers concerned with other geographic areas.(a) (TRRL)
