LATERAL STABILITY AND CONTROL OF HYDROFOIL BOATS
The prime objectives of the report is to furnish the engineer working in the field of hydrofoil boats with an understanding of the fundamental principles that govern the dynamic characteristics of the hydrofoil boats in lateral motions and with enough detail in providing the basic procedures involved in the calculation of the stability and control characteristics. The equations and method of calculation in the present analysis deal specifically with the inherent lateral motions of hydrofoil boats in calm water for the case of three degrees of freedom ( roll, yaw and sideslip ) and linear stability derivatives. For cases involving additional degrees of freedom, non-linear derivatives, special equations are required. ( Author )
