THE NAASRA DATA BANK SYSTEM STUDY
This paper was presented at session 9-NAASRA data bank. In 1976, the national association of Australian State Road Authorities (NAASRA) decided to proceed with a study aimed at developing uniform computer based systems for the efficient handling of road and bridge inventory data for Australian roads, and also to develop a computer based planning model for use by road authorities. This paper describes the organisation of the study, the concept of a NAASRA co-ordinated, road authority data bank, the systems developed setting up the bank, the operation of the bank, and the expected uses of the bank. It also describes the functions, operation and uses of the planning model, nimpac, developed by the study. (TRRL)
