PUTTING IN POWER FOR THE HUMBER BRIDGE
The electrical services for the Humber bridge cover the bridge itself, the administration building, the toll booths, and the north and south approach roads. In this article a description is given of the supply and distribution of power to both the Hessle (north bank) and Barton (south bank) sites, to services in the towers, decks and bridge cable anchorages. Emergency power will be provided by two standby diesel generators. Information is included on the sodium lighting for the approach roads, toll plaza and bridge carriageways. Reference is made to the telemetry transmission system for monitoring equipment throughout the site. (TRRL)
