PARKING IN THE NETHERLANDS

PARKEREN IN NEDERLAND

Once a year the ANWB Traffic Department endeavours to conduct a survey on an aspect of transportation planning, and to compile data on subjects on which no information has been available. This year parking provisions were investigated. There is a tendency to abandon disc parking in bigger cities; many municipalities (47%) do not have a bye-law on parking excesses and only 10% have a bye-law on parking revenues. Just a few cities (37) have parking garages, whereas many more operate pay parking systems. About a quarter of the municipalities operate a signposting system to parking facilities, but in only 23% of these cases does the system link more than one facility. (a) (TRRL)
