THE PERFORMANCE OF LINING AND TAMPING MACHINES

This article describes the performance of a number of up-to-date machines for carrying out track maintenance. The measurement principle is indicated and certain mathematical functions are deduced from it. The data collected by means of 2 special recording coaches was analysed and the results were applied in a series of measurements undertaken for Committee D 117 of ORE. The article finally draws some conclusions on the practical use of different track maintenance machines.
