STRESSES AND DEFORMATIONS OF NON-WOVEN MATERIALS IN CONSTRUCTION

CONTRAINTES ET DEFORMATION DES NON-TISSES DANS LA CONSTRUCTION

The author describes the behaviour of non-woven material in compression, extension and deformation. Two examples of use are given: (1) the construction of railway lines; (2) road construction. These examples show that single isolated stresses exist; they require the inclusion of a field of adaptation in the first part of the stress deformation chart. Attention is drawn particularly to the harmful behaviour of non-woven materials which have been thermally reinforced.
