The Micro-Mobility Revolution: The Introduction and Adoption of Electric Scooters in the United States
Electric scooter (e-scooter) services are enjoying a healthy adoption rate in U.S. cities despite only having been available for a short time. In this report, data from 7,000 city residents was analyzed to examine the adoption and perceptions of e-scooter sharing. It was found that there is overwhelming support (70%) for e-scooters in major U.S. cities. Additional topics discussed in this report include allocation of public space, adoption of micro-mobility services by gender, and equity. It is suggested that e-scooters may enjoy higher adoption rates by women and lower-income groups than bikesharing.
