In the concluding article of this series, the major items in track maintenance and rehabilitation are identified along with the unit costs for each process. The proper sequence for any major track rebuilding must be established so that cost elements may be properly applied. The basis for this planning must be a thorough preliminary inspection which must be followed by rigorous quality control at each stage.
